Unga Bunga Cookunga
Unga Bunga Cookunga is a cooking resource management game that I am working on with a small group of people for my capstone class. You play as Unga Bunga, the chef unga for all of the other ungas in your tribe. You have took feed all of your ungas and keep them happy and healthy throughout each of the four seasons, each one with it's own unique traits. The difficulty really spikes up during winter. There are many different recipes that you can make, some being better for certain ungas if the dish includes their favorite food! There are three skill-based minigames you can play in the preparation of your dishes for your ungas: bashing, mixing, and cooking!
I was the person who proposed the idea of this game to the class, showing them a mood board of what the caveman-inspired artstyle of the game would look like. Of course, not all of the assets would look the same as mine, as there are several different artists on the team, but the whole group loved the idea. They voted that I become the lead artist and art director of the game, which I happily accepted the roles of. This was my first major lead role in any project, so I was happy to take on the challenge.
I did not consistently work on one subject matter for my entirety of the time making this game; I ended up contributing to almost everything in some way. I did all of the artwork for the game that is shown on the Steam Page, the entirety of the credits animation, all of the in-game backgrounds, a few foods and UI items, and some other miscellaneous art assets! I honestly had a lot of fun with the constantly-changing subject matter that I would be making artwork for. I am used to working on a specific type of asset for a game and nothing outside of that range; the chage of pace was really refreshing.
